leadlight windows and a hot wood fire. Monkey Place is fully self contained
with privacy on 6 acres on the flats of Wollombi Brook. Vast open lounge,
dining and kitchen space that keeps every one talking, four beautiful queen
bedrooms, separate sitting room with extra beds and two bathrooms provide
spacious comfort for 10 adults .
Tariffs for a two night weekend start at $1,200 for up to 8 persons.
Go out and visit the neighbouring Cellar Doors, taste the latest vintage
and dine at a local cafe. Stay in and cook in the gourmet kitchen or book
our local chef to prepare a full dinner party for you. Settle back on the
shady wraparound verandahs at Monkey Place with fresh wines, calm views and
simply relax. We would love you to come and stay with your family and
friends. Monkey Place is crafted from stone and massive bridge timbers with
lovely old coloured glass, warm wool curtains and Australian Red Cedar
doors. Walk in, sense the space and marvel at the beauty. Monkey Place is
sensational. Cosy earth colours and natural materials inside, wraparound
verandahs outside for viewing the birds, trees, mountain ranges and the
spectacular Yellow Rock.
Transportation
Location: 69 Wollombi Street BROKE New South Wales 2330
Directions from Sydney via F3 and Cessnock: Follow the F3 freeway North,
take the Cessnock exit to the left which in good conditions is about 75
minutes drive north of Wahroonga. Follow the signs to Cessnock with another
left turn to Cessnock after Mulbring. You will enter Cessnock and come to a
set of traffic lights at which you turn right into Vincent Street, the main
street of Cessnock. Follow Vincent Street to the end where you will turn
left and then immediately right into Allandale Road which goes towards
Branxton.
Drive for about 5 minutes and you will see Cessnock Airport and Wine
Country Visitor Information Centre on your left. Just after these turn left
onto Broke Road. Follow Broke Road until you come to a T-intersection at
McDonalds Road, turn left and then immediately right again, this is still
Broke Road. Stay on Broke Road, do not turn off, you will go past Tyrrells
Winery on the left and past Hermitage Road on the right. You will drive
through bushland for 15 kilometres and then arrive in Broke. At the
T-intersection in Broke Village, turn right. Monkey Place Country House is
just 1.5 kilometres on the left hand side next to the old red train
carriage and is before Harrowby Road.
The whole trip, given a good run, takes 2 hours from Hornsby / Wahroonga.
