Kuala Lumpur International airport Malaysia is one
of the busiest airports in the world but there is no accommodation
near Kuala Lumpur airport. The good news is express transport
from Kualu Lumur airport to the nearest accommodation to Kuala
Lumpur airport and Kuala Lumpur CBD is frequent and cheap.
Nearest Accommodation To
Kuala Lumpur Airport
The best accommodation near Kuala Lumpur
airport is at the new modern satelite city of Putrajaya / Cyberjaya.
Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, the ITC and
administrative centre of Malaysia, are near each other and about half
way distance travel from Kuala Lumpur airport to
"Sentral Station" in Kuala Lumpur CBD. If you want hotel accommodation
with fast internet then CyberJaya is the place
to stay. Catch the train from Kula Klumpur airport to
Putrajaya train station and then taxi to your hotel accommodation at
Cyperjaya.
Resort hotel accommodation near Putrajaya, at
Cyberjaya is about halfway from
the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and KL CBD. Allow at least
one hour's travel from Kuala Lumpur to Kualu Lumpur airport,
Taxi, bus and rail transport is cheap and usually reliable but on
the last trip, the Red KL airport transit express bus with a big Air Asia ad on
the side, broke down. I had to throw my bag on the checkin
conveyor belt and run through the
Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) with helpful AirAsia staff.
With no time to get warm clothes out of my bag, I froze on the
midnight flight to Perth
Australia. I told an air hostes about how cold I felt after 4
months in South East Asia's monsoon season but all she could do was
turn the aircraft cabin temperature up one degree. AirAsia
will be moving from the LCCT to the new budget low cost terminal,
KLIA 2, after it opens October 2012. If you are not flying a
budget airline, it is a little easier to catch the train directly
from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to nearest accommodation
at Cyberjaya / Putrajaya.
Accommodation Near Kuala Lumpur
City Centre
Accommodation near Kuala Lumpur city centre is in
a range of 5 star to 1 star. I've stayed in 3 star budget hotel
accommodation in China Town. It's good if you like lots of VERY
crowded busy market shopping and good street restaurants but for me
I like the tourist area of
Bukit Bintang for its delisious Chinese
food served at open air street restaurants on Alor Street. The
last time I was there I didn't book accommodation in advance because
previously there was always a room available. But this time, at the
end of the Holy month of Ramada, the begining of Malaysian national
holidays, I had to move out of my 1 star budget hotel accommodation to a
3 star hotel near Alor Street. The view of KL was much better than
the rubbish I had to look at previously.

Some of the best shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur are near
accommodation at Bukit Bintang. I liked the IT gadets shopping
mall at "Low Yat Plaza" where ipads are about $70 cheaper than
Pantip Shopping Mall in
Bangkok. Camera shops here are good too. See photo inside
this ITC KL shopping mall. You can get transport to Bukit Bintang by
monorail from "KL Sentral" station.
Restaurants Near Kuala Lumpur Hotel Accommodation
Street food restaurants near hotel accommodation in Kuala Lumpur are
my preference in Kuala Lumpur for price, taste and variety. Diners
can eat at Chinese restaurants in tourist districs sush as Bukit Bintang or
at cheaper KL retaurants near tourist areas. I love dimsums for
breakfast. Some KL restaurants hire workers from cheap labour
counties such as Myanmar. Spelling is Restoran Kuala Lumpore.
Restaurants near the centre of Kuala Lumpur don't have to be as busy
as restaurants near China Town. While restaurants near Alor
Street are Chinese, different districts have different cuisine. Try
restaruants near Little India for good Indian food. Dishes like
Malay BBQ satay are delicious too.
Things to do
Near Kuala Lumpur City Centre
Book a morning bus sightseeing tour of Kualu Lumpur from
any of many travel agents in Kuala Lumpur. KL guided tours stops near
Petronis twin towers, batik shops, chocolate factory,
the royal palce, Museum, KL War Memorial, Sultan Abdul Samad Building near
the 127 Brittish Club House on Brickfields near Little India, and drives
past the old Kuala Lumpur airport in the KL CBD.
Watch the Kuala Lumpur calendar for festival dates in KL. At the end
of the Ramadan festival, I got on a hop on hop off bus ride. I hoped
off near the royal palace on the only open day of the year for a free feast including prawns and all
sorts of delisious Asian food. The beautiful queen of Malaysia gave
me a beautiful box of delicious biscuits.
Day trips for tourists from KL to destinations near
Kuala Lumpur are popular with tourists. These include tea
plantations and casinos in the cool Genting Highlands, The port city
of Malacca (Melacca) near the "Straights of Malacca", one of the
businest shipping lanes in the world and home to great restaurants
and cooking schools. Elephant rides in national parks near Kuala
Lumpure is another day trip activity.
Enjoy the night life. Though KL is predominantly a
Moslem city, Malaysia is a tolerant, moderate Islamic society, so
enjoy nightclubs, cafes, bars and for the lonely, street walkers but
be careful to know what sex of the person is before you go off with
a stranger.

Gerrymander Politics in Malaysia
Politically Malaysia is not a true democratic country.
Dissatisfaction with gerrymandering
by Malay politicians to block political power for Chinese and
Indians, bubbles under the surface among other ethnic
groups. The slogan "One Malaysia" throughout Kula Lumpur is
propaganda to supress demotraic sentiment of other ethnic groups.
Maylaysia is between two of the worlds largest armies of China and
India.
Our tour guide said the Sultan (King) of Malaysia is
elected. I wondered what the difference is between that and a
president? The monarch can only be a male Malay.
