Dickwella Resort
General Description
Dickwella Resort has a prized location on a headland surrounded by
two sandy and tranquil beaches, on a southern coast where one stunning
beach is normally deemed quite sufficient. This laid-back collection of
cabanas makes an appealing staging point between the historic fortress town
of Galle, to the west, and the national parks of Bundala and Yala to the
east, as well as offering uplifting beach accommodation in its own right.
Dickwella Resort sits on a beautiful peninsula on Sri Lanka's south
coast, and has the neighbouring beaches pretty much to itself.
Its great advantage is the micro-climate in this part of Southern Sri
Lanka, a dry zone which ensures lots of sunshine and dry weather throughout
the year. Dickwella is barely affected by the south-west monsoon which
brings heavy rain to the west coast in May and June and again in October
and early November so is an excellent out-of-season choice. The Dickwella
Resort has also had a makeover. The tsunami inflicted heavy damage on the
old Dickwella Village resort, but after a prolonged renovation programme,
it reappeared in a slightly more upmarket guise, offering appealing
mid-market accommodation to independent travellers, families and some
package travellers
