One of Burnham Beeches most famous guests was world renown violinist Jehudi Menuhin and his sister Hedhzibah. They married, respectively, the daughter and son of the Nicholas family. Consequently the main restaurant is named Menuhin’s. Menuhin’s will be a brassiere, providing a light, fine dining experience. Design elements are drawn from the Art Deco Parisian establishment with dark timber furniture, mirrors and orchid flower arrangements. The brassiere comprises of many floor to ceiling windows, affording spectacular vistas of the gardens. Private dining is available in Lord Wilton’s Room named after Menuhin’s famous violin. Pre-dinner drinks will be served on one of the three alfresco terraces. An alternative but equally unique dining experience is Halliday’s Wine Cellar, a bistro under the patronage of James Halliday. Halliday is Australia’s most famous wine writer and one of the Yarra Valleys top wine makers. A special feature will be the wine vaults under the main oval stair case. A traditional tasting room will double as a private dining venue for up to 10 persons. Access to a spectacular terrace for aperitifs is available. The menu will focus on wine with matching regional food produce. Hephzibar The hotel bar is named after Hephzibah Menuin, the sister of Yehudi who married Lindsay Nicholas, heir of the Aspro empire. In 1945, Richard Goldner visited the couple and the idea of Musica Viva was born. Musica Viva has become the world’s largest music performance company. To complement this moment in history, Select Burnham Beeches will sponsor an annual performance of Chamber Music and Jazz in the hotel lounge and terraces. Additionally Select Burnham Beeches will offer a Piano Bar & Lounge. Music style will be soft Blues and Jazz. A library will adjoin the bar, a quiet place to relax. The library will also be available as a private venue.
