Oatlands boasts the largest collection of colonial sandstone buildings in a village environment in Australia, many of which are now businesses such as antique, candy, bakery, craft, hotels, restaurants and cafes. Developed as a military base for managing convicts between Hobart & Launceston, much of Oatlands was convict built with many historically significant buildings, including the 3rd oldest mill in Australia.
